CNYFi starts soon!

We are excited to announce the Tully Free Library's CNYFi program starts at the end of August, 2016.

You will be able to borrow Chromebook laptops and accompanying Verizon Internet hotspots that will allow you to connect to the Internet for free from anywhere. The hotspots allow 10 devices (phones, computers, tablets) to connect to the Internet, so that multiple users will have free Internet access at the same time.

The CNYFi kits can be borrowed by Onondaga County library card holders age 18 or older for a loan period of 3 weeks. Borrowers must first complete a workshop about how the kit works with library staff. Workshop sessions will be listed on our events calendar. You must register beforehand for a session on the calendar or by calling the library. If no session time works for you, please call us at 315-696-8606.

The library is one of several libraries across the Central New York region participating in CNYFi, thanks to a grant received by the Central New York Library Resources Council (CLRC).

For more information on CNYFi, call the library at 315-696-8606.

Library Seedling Progress!

Jacinta Colombo used seeds from the Tully Free Seed Library to plant eggplant, basil, summer squash, dill, carrots, beans. She says "Everything is planted, now I just have to watch and see. Very slow going. I waited until the chill was out of the air and ground, now it has been so dry very few plants are up. Too early to worry."  Thanks for the update, Jacinta!

LONG TERM CARE PLANNING IN YOUR 50s AND 60s
Wednesday September 7 from 6-7:30 PM
Long term care planning is an essential part of retirement planning.  The best time to plan for this risk is when you are young and healthy. You will have more planning strategies available to you so that you can protect your savings and family from the consequences of a LTC illness. This workshop will give you information about LTC planning strategies such as LTC insurance, the NYS Partnership plans, life insurance with LTC riders or chronic illness riders, short term recovery insurance, Medicaid trusts, and reverse mortgages. You will learn that there is a LTC planning solution for every personal need and financial situation.

LONG TERM CARE PLANNING IN YOUR 70s AND 80s
Wednesday October 5 from 6-7:30 PM
Long term care planning should ideally be done when you are young and healthy. But what if you are in your 70s and 80s and never planned for long-term care? The lack of a plan could have a profound effect on your savings and your family’s well-being. Don’t panic! There are still many options available to you to protect everything that is important to you…your home, your retirement savings and your family. This workshop will help you plan for long-term care in your golden years. We’ll discuss Medicaid trusts, life insurance with chronic illness riders, short term recovery insurance, promissory notes, reverse mortgages, and life settlements. It’s never too late to plan for the future!

CARING FOR THE CAREGIVER
Wednesday October 12 from 6-7:30 PM
How many of you are caregivers or know of someone who is a caregiver?  Caregiving is emotionally, socially and financially stressful. Oftentimes, caregivers become ill while taking care of a loved one because their own needs are not being met.  This workshop will give you the insight and permission to take care of yourself. You will learn how to identify and combat stress and burnout, and receive tips on how to live a quality life while you are caring for someone.
